July 2010

July's 2010 weather for Seattle brought below normal temperatures, sunshine, clouds, and drier skies after a very cool, mostly cloudy, and rainy June. There were eleven days in July with sunny sky conditions, thirteen days with partly cloudy sky conditions, and seven days with cloudy sky conditions.

Precipitation for the month was below normal at 0.31 inches compared to the normal 0.79 inches. There were seven days in July that had precipitation --- four days with measurable precipitation and three days with a trace of precipitation. The maximum 24-hour precipitation total was 0.18 inches on July 2. Precipitation for the year was running over two inches above normal at 22.57 inches compared to the normal 19.71 inches.

Temperatures for the month averaged 0.8 degrees below normal --- the mean average temperature was 64.5 degrees compared to the normal 65.3 degrees. The average daily high was 0.4 degrees below normal at 74.9 degrees compared to the normal 75.3 degrees. There were only ten days in July that reached a high temperature of 80 degrees or above. The warmest day was July 8 when the temperature reached a high of 95 degrees breaking the previous record of 87 degrees set in 1985 and 1952; the coolest day was July 13 when the temperature reached a low of 50 degrees tying the record set in 2001. Other temperature records broken this month included July 7 when the high temperature of 90 degrees broke the previous record of 88 degrees set in 1953 and July 9 when the high temperature of 93 degrees broke the previous record of 91 degrees set in 1985.

The daily average wind speed for the month was 6.6 mph. The maximum wind peak gust was 30 mph from the south on July 20.
